Magnetek, Inc. Announces Elevator Modernization Project of the Year Recognition
MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. - February 2, 2009 - Magnetek, Inc. today announced that the elevator modernization project for Brown University’s Sciences Library has been chosen by Elevator World as the 2009 Project of the Year in the category of Elevators, Modernization.
Magnetek provided the HPV 900® permanent magnet AC drives and energy regeneration modules used by Atlantic Elevator South. Four elevators were modernized in the 16-story building on College Hill in Providence, R.I.A. main goal of the project was energy efficiency, and this was achieved through the installation of high-efficiency motors and drives as well as the installation of regenerative modules that capture the energy generated during the elevators’ ride cycles.

The 2009 Project of the Year contest recognized people-moving projects around the world that exemplified team effort and the ability to overcome challenges, and that were completed on time, within budget and to clients’ satisfaction.
